Secretly Pregnant with my Boss’s Baby

Okay, I love a zaddy, and one of the zaddies I love the most is absolutely John Palmer. I’m going to guess he’s probably three years younger than me…I’m 45, so I’m sure he’s still a baby. Let’s see. Well, backstage.com lists his acting age range as 29-42, So…what does that mean? He’s probably not even a true zaddy, just a great face that had a small attack of the grays at the temple earlier than most. But compared to his scene partner, Jana Skorpen, he’s her zaddy!

Anyway, it’s a secret romance with her boss, but it’s so secret, even he doesn’t know about it. Also, DRUGS, because of course there is. Like, just regular drinking and impaired judgement isn’t a sufficient plot point, we have to use rape instead because all sex, regardless of gender, without consent is rape. Again, these Vertical Dramas often feel like they were written by men. Seeing how many men do dominate the film industry space, this isn’t a big leap. I feel like we’re just supposed to ignore all of the DRUG rape because it ends up the person (often the man) they slept with is their one true love, so it all worked out in the end. Ugh. If this was something I drew the line in the sand about I couldn’t watch 75% of Vertical Dramas. It would be AWESOME if this type of story plot just went on it’s merry way and never returned, please and thank you.

The High: Hands down, best friend MJ (Kelsey Susino). She is the friend we all need, in Vertical Dramas and life. She’s the girl that listens to you whine about your cheating ex and then buys the sugar to pour into the gas tank. She’s the girl that flirts with the cop so you can get away. She’s the one that hands you all of her credit cards to split the cost of those boots that she thinks you HAVE TO HAVE. She’s the best.

All spoilers and no filters ahead.

Nora is walking her boss Alexander into his hotel room and they’re overcome with passion. In the morning, Nora has a WTF moment and can’t believe she slept with her boss. She’s tries to leave, but as she’s doing so, Alexander wakes up, immediately knowing he was drugged. He tells his assistant, Maverick (awesome name, but is it his first or last?) that a woman was in his room and Alexander needs him to track her down. Nora hides in the closet and Alexander hears her, but apparently he’s moved into his hotel room and the massive closet is stuffed with clothes so he can’t see Nora anywhere. Sneaking back into the office all incognito with HUGE classes, her bestie, Mary Jane (MJ), calls her out for being a tramp the night before but is actually shocked to find out she was right on the money. Alexander arrives in the office and asks his most trusted assistant to talk about last night.

Nora is certain Alexander knows what happened and freaks out, but instead finds herself in charge of the investigation after she lies about what happened. MJ wants to know what is up and Nora can’t resist spilling the beans to her. They’re both convinced Alexander will disappear Nora for daring to violate him, but honestly he’s not wrong. Nora thinks the best plan is to quit.

Nora gets news from her family that her shitty mom put grandma’s house up as collateral, so Nora has to keep working for Alexander, even if it means risking everything to do so. MJ is a girl’s girl, so she immediately starts plotting to help her bestie out of the jam. Lie about earrings? Check. Seduce the nerdy IT guy to hide the incriminating video? She’s got the moves! Everyone needs an MJ in their lives. Alexander is constantly walking in and hearing snippets of conversations so Nora is repeatedly having to cover her ass to prevent Alexander from finding out.

With all the mishaps of ALMOST identifying the woman with him, Alexander suspects there is a mole in the company plotting against them. Maverick gets a clue and asks if the woman could be Nora. Alexander doesn’t think it would be her and instead thinks the woman must be Courtney (Crystal St. John) because his stepmother, Sophia, is trying to get him and Courtney together.

Nora isn’t a very good assistant as she mixed up her resignation letter into the paperwork she gives Alexander at his home. Alexander is pressured by this family to go to his stepmother’s birthday party. To try and thwart Sophia Alexanders decides he needs a quickie marriage and thinks that woman should be Nora. Courtney is revealed to be the one plotting with Sophia against Alexander. He announces Nora as his fiancé without discussing it with her first, but is able to convince her as a part of her job. His family is shocked by the news and he goes off to talk with his father while he leaves Nora behind to be bullied by Sophia and Courtney. Despite the glass of wine on her dress and cutting words, Nora holds her own.

Alexander proceeds with the wedding. He steamrolls over Nora not letting her finish a complete thought and pays her 2 million dollars. Nora is like, but we won’t sleep together, right? Alexander agrees that it’s about the public presentation not a love match.

Courtney works in Alexander’s company and is not a girl’s girl as sends her off for potential SA by a creepy client. When Alex learns what Courtney did, he immediately fires her. Alexander flirtily asks Nora to pick up ingredients for chicken parmesan. MJ picks up the vibes right away and asks what is what. Nora confesses they got married and she’s moving in with him.

More footage reveals that no one other than Nora was in his room. She lies that Alexander was drunk and sick so she was cleaning up everything after him and that’s what took her so long. Alexander tells him he hates liars. Nora’s shitty family calls and interrupts and Nora runs off with Alexander in tow. When her bitter aunt won’t be kind to Nora, Alexander pays her off. Alexander promises to always be there for her.

Alexander takes Nora to a secret bar, drinks and dances with her. They grow closer and are about to kiss until Nora runs out, sick to her stomach. Nora discovers her pregnancy, but keeps it secret from Alexander telling his his secret bar made her sick, that she has food poisoning. Nora tries to keep a letter from the doctor away from Alexander and as he’s looking at it she drowns it in the sink. He keeps questioning her again and again and instead of telling him the truth, she tells him she has cancer. Yup, really bad cancer. Alexander freaks and calls the doctor to make a house call to start caring for her. The doctor and Alexander have circular conversations and both of them are unaware of the truth. As the doctor is leaving he comments the both of them will make good parents. Alexander is all, umm, what? Nora lies her ass off again and somehow gets away with it. Alexander takes are of Nora, feeding her and arranges MJ and Nora to have time off together.

Alexanders crappy housekeeper is an agent for Sophia. She drugs Nora and MJ when they’re laying out by the pool. MJ passes out in the bathroom and the housekeeper locks her in there. Maverick comes to Alexander with news, but when he announces Nora has cancer, Maverick tries to hide the information from Alexander. Alexander presses him, so he reveals Nora never left his hotel room and the doctor has stated that Nora is pregnant. Alexander is finally clued in and is happy with the news, rushing off to talk to Nora. Meanwhile Nora is kidnapped.

Alexander and Maverick rush home but Nora is no where to be found. They find MJ passed out. When she wakes up they question her about all they’ve learned. When Alexander can’t find Nora anywhere, they realize that Sophia has her. Sophia and Courtney threaten Nora so she uses herself as a bargaining chip to sign over the shares of his company to spare her life. The two villains agree and contact Alexander which is enough for Alexander to realize where they’re holding Nora. Alexander signs away the company for Nora but uses the papers as a distraction and holds them off long enough for the police to arrive. In the last minute, Sophia stabs Nora in the side.

Nora and the baby survive and Alexander confesses his love to her. Nora, the liar, pretends to be sleeping but when she hears Alexander wants her back she pretends to wake up and tells him she loves him too. Alexander and Nora get married for real with Maverick and MJ by their sides.

Ehh, this could have been spicier, especially when Nora and Alexander are living together. No shower scene? No accidental towel drops? No romance that lingers from home to the office and back again? Honestly, it seemed like he married her because he wanted a roommate, not a wife. It’s more fun when they say “no sex” and then it’s “well, no sex anymore”, and then, “no really, this time we’re serious, we’re not having sex anymore.” But they can’t resist each other anymore. You know, the “fuck the contact” kind of CEOs.

Spicy Highlights.
