Hotter Than Revenge
Girl meets boy, is nice to boy. Ten years go by, girl forgets boy. Girl finds new guy, all good until uh-oh, first love returns. New guy thinks he can have his cake and eat it too, girl says, “bye-new guy!” Girl call boy for paper marriage, boy says yes. Girl and boy fall in love, girl and boy destroy new guy and first love. Girl and boy ride off into the sunset, or something like that :)
The High: The sickest burn I have ever heard!! “I wish you a lifetime of infertility and I wish Miss Cole (his wife/mistress/etc.) a house full of children.” That just slaps like no other. HAHAHAHA
All spoilers and no filters ahead.
Sad, beautiful Eva Shaw is sitting alone on her birthday, with the cake she probably bought herself, waiting for her no show boyfriend, Nolan Pierce. She calls him and he tells her he’s at a business meeting when he is in fact with a group of friends being chanted to kiss his first love, the newly divorced Valerie Cole. Since Nolan doesn’t end the call correctly, Eva hears the whole thing and decides that is the end of that. She calls Calvin Randolph and asks if his contract marriage offer (that would allow her to complete her studies) is still on the table. He eagerly agrees and tells her he will return so they can discuss terms. We get a small glimpse that they knew each other 10 years ago from the picture on his phone. Eva packs to get the hell out of Dodge, but isn’t fast enough as Nolan returns and acts like a big shot demanding she book business travel for him and Valerie so they can secure business with the Randolph empire. He also tells her that their relationship doesn’t end until he wants it to end…what a delightful young man.
Eva is stuck at work with her ex and her nemesis, listening to gossip around the office, even having to serve them coffee while they cuddle on the couch. Valerie gives Eva a shopping list for their trip and it includes condoms. She should go to the store and buy him extra small. Or even extra large would work cause when he couldn’t fill it he would feel inadequate. Eva just takes the list and when Valerie sees that doesn’t get her goat she asks her to drive them to the airport for their trip. Eva starts to walk off, but at the last minute changes her mind and confesses that she was the one Nolan was seeing the whole time Valerie was gone. Then she says, “oops! I meant to say I’m his ex-girlfriend!” Nolan does not like hearing that. Then she wishes them a nice trip. Nolan tells Valerie she was just a side piece. Valerie tells him it was okay as long as he doesn’t have feelings for her.
While Eva is driving them, they are grousing to her about not going fast enough, but they are in an accident when Eva swerves to avoid a child that darted out into the road. While she’s unconscious, we get a glimpse of why she didn’t realize that Nolan was a tool. She was a poor orphaned girl that was bullied by Nolan’s sister, her friend and Valerie’s brother. One day Nolan came in and made them all stop and told them he would protect her from now on. After the accident Nolan tries to get into the car but can’t and Valerie convinces him that they need to go or they will miss their plane. What a total fuck face!
She awakens in the hospital with the doctor listing all of her injuries and a phone call from Calvin. He is stuck overseas, but sends his assistant to help her with anything she needs. He tells her she’s his wife now and it’s his job to take care of her, which sets off the gossipy dudes he works with who are stunned he’s even into chicks. Oooh! He has an intense “I’m going to murder someone” face. Cut back to Eva who is quitting her job. She also moves out of her place with Nolan, but Nolan rushes home to stop her and tells he they just had to rush off to make their flight, but it’s okay because he told HR to give her PTO. Nolan drags her off to a dinner party hosted by Valerie that includes all of her old bullies. He thinks they need to teach her a lesson because he’s spoiled her all these years. But it’s okay because he told them “not to go too far.” Eva is able to call Calvin who has just arrived back in town.
She tries to fight them off, but Valerie’s brother, EVAN, takes her by force into the car. The bullies give Nolan some bullshit lies and he drops to one knee and proposes to Valerie. EVAN drags Eva to a club with all of Nolan’s friends and they behave as all professional gentleman do and brag about finally “getting their turn” with Nolan’s leftovers. What a treat. Eva is able to break a bottle over EVAN’s head before they restrain her and start beating her. Calvin comes storming in and starts attacking EVAN while the other men freak out that Calvin has just declared Eva “his woman.” Nice, he puts a cigarette out on EVAN and tells him to tell Nolan that Eva is his now. His assistant is like, “Boss, stay calm and take care of the missus. We’ll take care of these shit heads for you.” Eva passes out and Calvin takes her home. I like that she passed out and fell to the ground, he wasn’t instantly there to catch her.
Calvin blames himself after the doctor tells him this incident combined with the car accident has made her weak and she needs rest. Eva startles awake and cuddles right into Calvin who comforts her. After about 3 seconds they get into the business of their contract which is for Eva to play the loving wife in front of his grandfather for as long as he is alive, but also no divorce, and it’s a secret marriage. And she has to give him a child all for sixty million a year. Eva is sifting through the rumors she’s heard about him and thinks maybe he’s gay and they’re just having a child to carry on his family line. Eva questions why she’s the lucky girl and Calvin lies it’s because she’s an orphan (when we all know the truth). Eva mentions that she wants to finish her degree and there is some study abroad she needs to do. He tells her to think it over and let him know. Why a secret marriage though? Eva is trying to leave the room and nearly walks right into the door frame which Calvin uses his hand to prevent her from hitting her head, which flashes her back to ten years earlier when he did the same thing for her. She asks if they met before and he admits they have, but he doesn’t explain more so she’s unsure. He has her dropped at home and none other than dick-face Nolan is grabbing her and demanding to know who dropped her off at 2:30am. She tells him to fuck off and he sees her wearing a man’s coat that he rips off her. She slaps him and he claims he had no idea EVAN was going to take her to the club and says he’s sorry. Eva ain’t taking his shit any more and pulls out her mini taser. Nolan says he’ll do anything to make it up to her and she tells him all she wants is him to get fucked. He then tells her that Calvin is into men and he’s never going to be able to do it for her. She says, even gay, Calvin is still 100 times better than he is. He tries to tell her she will never be good enough for Calvin. He also tells her that she needs to return to work or he’ll sink her study abroad opportunities. Personally, I would rather scrub toilets the rest of my life than spend even a second with Nolan Pierce.
The next day, Eva finds out he wasn’t bluffing when she gets a call from her academic advisor. She has to return to work and yay, her bullies are there. EVAN taunts her that Calvin is gay. Eva blasts him by asking if he’s hoping he can make him gay, cause she knows he doesn’t have the parts he’s interested in. Man, that gets EVAN’s goat. Valerie claims she brought the bullies in to apologize because she didn’t know they were bullying her, and EVAN pops right back in with calling her a slut. Eva is such a badass when she asks EVAN which one of us was crying like a little bitch when Calvin was kicking their ass. Somehow the bullies have video of a bullied Eva and show it around the office. Eva picks up a vase and slams it on EVAN’s head. When Nolan finally get his ass in gear they lie and say they were apologizing and she attacked them. He demands she apologizes. She says if I’m going to kill myself, I’m taking these three pieces of shit with me. She tells Nolan he can rot too. He calls the police on her.
At the police station she’s asked if there is anyone she can call, but she has no one. The nice officer says a friend would work too. At that exact moment Calvin calls to tell her about a gala his grandparents are attending. She can have anything she wants if she attends with him so she asks him to come bail her out. He hangs up without saying anything so she thinks he’s not coming for her. The officer is one from her earlier years that tried to protect her from the rich bullies, but he couldn’t. Calvin shows up at the station and the officer tells him about the brutal attack four years ago. Calvin sends his lawyer off to deal with the charges. Calvin takes Evahome. Calvin feels guilty he didn’t return for her sooner.
Eva and Calvin arrive at the ball with Eva looking GORGEOUS! He tells her it’s a quick in and out. Grandpa spots Eva and doesn’t look happy. Even Grandpa thinks Calvin is gay. Since he’s dating a woman, Grandpa says, “ok, I guess that works for now, at least she’s a woman.” Eva isn’t sure she’s not a beard either. Nolan and Valerie arrive and she hides behind Calvin and grabs him. He asks if she’s scared and she says she’s only scared she is going to slap him. Nolan tries to schmooze Calvin, but he isn’t having it. They say that poor EVAN was hurt by some poorly bred girl, and Calvin goes all in with a “and what was it your piece of shit brother did?” Valerie realizes her family can’t afford to offend Calvin so she shuts up. Valerie tries to pretend she and Eva are friends, then Calvin says an insult I had to Google, LOL. He says that he didn’t know Nolan had a taste for green tea, which apparently is a derogatory internet insult that means someone (usually a woman) is manipulative, hypocritical and calculating despite appearing pure, innocent or gentle. That insult slaps. And the smirk on his face. Damn.
Nolan tries to approach Eva, but Calvin puts his arm across her to shield her. Nolan demands she comes to him. She tells him, pass. She asks Calvin if it’s cool she dips and says, “yeah, let me drive you home,” while throwing his arm around her shoulders which Nolan clocks. Nolan is such a tool he thinks everything Eva is doing is to make come back when actually everything she’s doing is to get away from him. The next day, her academic advisor is telling her she can’t do her study abroad and it was reassigned to another student, Valerie’s cousin, as requested by Nolan. Nolan confronts Eva and tells her that her tantrum has gone on too long. She slaps him and when he stops her from doing it again she kicks him right in the balls. Good girl! She’s pissed that he knew how important this study opportunity is to her and he fucked her over like this. She spots a random brick, that looks nothing like a brick, and starts swinging. She tells him she wasn’t afraid to kill her bullies in college and she isn’t afraid to kill him now. Nolan tries to trap her with “I can provide you with everything you need.” As per usual, Eva would rather eat dog shit than have anything to do with Nolan.
Calvin is looking into the bullying incident from four years earlier and puts plans in motion to destroy them all. Meanwhile, Eva hasn’t kept quiet about Valerie’s cousin screwing her over for the spot and she posted it online so people are furious with Valerie’s family. She runs to Nolan and asks him to talk to Eva to get her to stop. Valerie tries to guilt Nolan into doing something about Eva and when he’s unreceptive she tells him she’ll deal with it herself. Valerie gets on the horn and tells Eva they need to talk. When Eva isn’t into it, she threatens the orphanage she grew up in. Luckily Eva is smart enough to call the officer before she arrives. When she gets there, Valerie threatens her for the spot and offers to pay her. Eva live streams the whole thing and plans the trap with the police officer who arrests them for the bullying incident four years ago. However, Calvin comes in and kicks major ass! Nothing is more awesome than watching EVAN the attempted rapist getting his ass handed to him. Calvin grips Eva in a tight protective squeeze.
When Eva once again wakes in the hospital he lectures her about how naive she was for walking in without more protection. We also find out Calvin was on his way to a flight when he caught sight of her live stream and turned around to save her bacon. He asks her if the study abroad is so important to her. She says it is, and he tells her to marry him. He’ll fund her studies first and if she doesn’t want kids they don’t have to have any. Her being with him will be enough to deter Nolan. Also, he’s seen her work, so when she’s done with her studies, she can work for his company. Eva agrees. She doesn’t need a minute to think it over, people would kill to work for his company. As he leaves, he tells his assistant to figure it out because EVAN needs to rot in jail for the rest of this life.
The police officer comes by and tells her Valerie was bailed out by Nolan who immediately comes to her hospital room to demand she drop the charges against Valerie. He thinks Eva is just trying to get Valerie out of the way so she can marry him. She laughs and tells him her future husband already proposed and she’ll be married before he ever is. He starts chewing her out when Valerie calls and he takes off. Eva gets a call from the orphanage that they have people looking for their kids, but Eva thinks they had their chance. She flashes back to an awful foster situation where the bat shirt crazy mother was arguing with her husband about Eva before she lit them both on fire. Eva isn’t interested in finding someone that might be her family.
Nolan starts snooping around trying to figure out what is up with Calvin and Eva. Calvin goes to grandpa and tells him that he’s marrying Eva. Grandpa isn’t on board as he already has a match with the Hale girl that went missing years ago (welp, we know who her family is). Calvin threatens to bring home a husband instead if Grandpa can’t deal with Eva becoming his wife. LOL, I love that he’s self aware of the rumors. Grandpa agrees if she can give the family an heir.
Eva is trying to leave the hospital when Nolan and Valerie come by to half-ass an apology. Valerie tries to “green tea” it when she cries about how hard it has been for her to wrap her head around Nolan and Eva together and that she should just give Nolan back to her since that would be the honorable thing. Eva says “no thanks, I don’t recycle” as Nolan tries to blame Eva for being partially to blame for the online hate Valerie is getting. Nolan thinks he can be the big man and find her a young man from work and some property when they marry. She just rolls her eyes and walks away. Luckily, Calvin pops in at the right moment. Nolan says Eva belongs to him and Calvin points to Valerie and asks if his fiance is right there, or is Valerie the side piece in Nolan and Eva’s relationship. Valerie tries to claim that Eva has been throwing herself at her boyfriend. Calvin says you’ve been living it up with your husband, so how is Eva stealing your boyfriend? Eva tells Valerie she once had a taste for junk food, but now that she’s an adult she’s lost her appetite for trash. Calvin takes her home while Eva basks in having someone back her up.
Eva is finalizing the paperwork with Calvin’s assistant in his lavish home. He tells her that the boss is definitely not gay. As he goes on and on about all the things Calvin is gifting her in the marriage and tells her anything else she wants will be added to the contract. She says all that is more than enough and signs on the dotted line. Calvin asks her if she’s happy with the contact and Eva asks about having children, are we doing IVF or the “normal” way. He teases her and asks what she means which leads her to asking if he’s not gay does he have ED. She reasures him that she’s okay with IVF. This prompts Calvin to get closer and closer to Eva until she falls onto the couch and he leans in even closer and whisper asks which she would prefer. Eva is flustered and say any way is fine with her. Calvin finally tells her to call him Calvin, lol. She has been calling him Mr. Randolph the whole time. He tells her that IVF is too hard on the body (uh huh…that’s solid reason) so they should do it the “natural” way. Eva asks what she should do now and he pulls her into his body and asks her what she wants to do as they stare into one another’s eyes. He tells her to rest as they will go to the registrar’s office tomorrow and see Grandpa. He also tells her he secured a study abroad for her and that her mentor is impressed with her work and granted special admission. She then asks if she can get an advance on the money because the orphanage she grew up in is facing demolition. She promises to pay him back. He tells her it’s not necessary which she takes as a no and apologizes for asking for money. He tells her that his charity organization is already taking care of it and she doesn’t need to use any of her money. When he strokes her face she flashes back to 10 years earlier when they met. She asks again if they’ve met before which he sidesteps and tells her to rest as they will be getting their marriage certificate tomorrow.
The next day he tells her she can still get out of it. She tells him she’s good. Calvin takes Eva shopping instead of going to work. Eva, unused to the flash asks to take the subway next time, and Calvin clearly besotted with her agrees. Some classmates recognize her and insinuate she’s a kept woman by this rich man. He drags her past them tells they they’re married. Eva is confused, “I thought we were keeping our marriage secret” and he tells her that he just meant not formal announcements. Two of Eva’s bullies show up and start filming her. You can see her visibly shrink but then she gets up and demands they delete the video or she’ll get her lawyer on it. They taunt her until they see Calvin. They flirt with him and tell him they have lots of videos of Eva. He tricks them to giving him a copy. He views them and calls his assistant over to get their legal team and call the police. He calls them dumb for keeping evidence of their crimes and telling Calvin how rich their families are does nothing to dissuade him. Eva again enjoys having someone in her corner. The two bullies call for someone to send men to teach Eva a lesson. EVAN’s buddies show up with bats and threaten Eva. When one of the women touches Calvin, Eva rips her hands off her man and slaps her. One kick and Calvin takes down the first aggressor and two of his cronies. The police arrive and haul them off while Calvin tells them he has evidence of their crimes again Eva from four years ago and he demands a full investigation. The friend of Nolan’s sister can’t believe Eva would send Nolan’s sister to jail and she says “watch me!”
Nolan arrives and accuses her of making a scene and he will handle it. Eva asks him if he’ll handle it or is he just trying to get rid of her. Calvin tells Nolan his wife wants nothing to do with him. Nolan insists that Eva is his and Calvin says if that’s true then why do I have a marriage license with her? Nolan grabs Calvin by the suit and tells him to not touch her, but Calvin grabs Nolan with way more power and says that my life, stay the hell away from my wife. Valerie begs they not take the girls because they’re too young to face charges and the officers says nice try, bitch. Your brother was involved to and his punishment will be severe. Valerie asks Eva why she can’t just get over it (the abuse that broken fingers and resulted in permanent hearing loss in one of her ears by the way) and she’s just acting high and mighty and Calvin is into men so he’ll dump her soon. Eva pulls out her phone and says to Calvin, “Babe, she’s slandering you and saying you’re into men.” Calvin grunts and says his lawyer will write up a formal complaint in the morning. Nolan asks if they didn’t already deal with the bullying years ago and Eva recounts her injuries and tells him that his way of dealing with it was letting them go so he could come off as the big hero and he blackmailed her with her school opportunities to keep her quiet. Valerie says that eventually Calvin won’t be in her corner anymore and he contradicts her and tells her that even if they get divorced Eva will still be higher than her because he will give her every resource to make sure she stays at the top. Valerie tries to act impressive with her family name and future marriage to Nolan. Calvin basically says that she has to use a marriage to gain business leverage but still thinks she’s noble when in fact she doesn’t even compare to a hair on Eva’s head all while holding Eva’s hand. Nolan again thinks he has a leg to stand on and tell's Calvin he’s taking this too far. Calvin is done with both of them, so he explains how Valerie found herself a mistress of a man to save her family’s business. Valerie pleads with Nolan to understand her family made her do it. Calvin says he is personally pursuing it and if Nolan has a problem with it to talk to him and stay away from Eva. Valeris screams about the Hale engagement Calvin is in, which he tells Eva not to worry about.
The Hale family sends Vivian to grandpa about Calvin and Eva and how she was with Nolan for four years. He says, hey Calvin and your sister were engagement but she was snatched away at birth. If your sister was around they wouldn’t be together but she’s gonzo. Vivian reveals they have a lead and they’ll be able to find the missing heiress soon. If they find her and she returns, is the engagement still on? Grandpa agrees, so soon as she is found, Calvin will dump “Eva Shaw.”
The press confront Valerie and Nolan about the charges and Valerie tell them that Eva just targeted Nolan and used the bullying to blackmail him into being with her. And since Nolan is a piece of shit he backs up her claim. Grandpa’s top researcher tells him that Eva is a ruthless social climber because he simply believed the one press conference Nolan spoke at. Calvin’s assistant shows Calvin the presser and tells him we have a problem. Poor kids have been married for one day. Calvin is pissed at Nolan for trying to destroy Eva’s reputation while Eva defends herself to him and says she wasn’t his kept woman, they were in a relationship. Calvin tells her he believes her and everything they say is trash. The assistant tells him his grandpa has likely seen it. Calvin says they’re not walking into their trap, besides, they are actually married. His continued support stuns Eva. They go together to see Grandpa. Calvin’s aunt is there and insults Eva and calls her a tramp for living off of men. Calvin says maybe you should get to know her before you believe gossip and take the word of a man willing to publicly trash talk his ex. Eva tells grandpa that she was with Nolan, but not as a kept woman. Grandpa says “You’re married, and as long as you are, you are a Randolph daughter-in-law.” He has her serve tea, but the servant overfills it and it’s the boiling water is burning Eva’s hands. Calvin sees what he’s trying to do and stops it. Auntie says we can’t just let some gold digger in who married for money and Calvin asks her if that isn’t what she herself did. Calvin says it’s not about being from a wealthy family, he would never make his wife suffer. He reminds his Aunt she was a singer accused in the media of being a starlet that slept around for money.
The Hale family arrives and tells Calvin that he will have to end his relationship with Eva now that Evelyn has been located. Me smells a scam because we know Evelyn Hale is already married to Calvin. It’s revealed that Vivian and her father are illegitimate and ineligible to inherit anything, hence the scam. Grandpa Hale see Eva and thinks she’s the spitting image, but he’s confused because they already found “Evelyn.” Grandpa Rudolph tells him to get ready for divorce cause she’s back. Calvin says that not going to happen because Eva is pregnant. Vivian implies the baby is Nolan’s. Eva tells Grandpa that she isn’t a bad woman because she worked three jobs to take care of herself in school, and both Grandpas are impressed. Auntie implies she needed so many jobs because he keeper was a cheapskate. Calvin is about to go off, but Eva reins him in by reminding Auntie that her money relies on Calvin’s work for the company and insulting her is insulting him and if she wants her money she should shut her mouth. Grandpa Hale is impressed by Eva’s silver tongue and says they should just wait and see. Vivian voice over that she wants Calvin.
After showering the couple comes together and have to sleep together to make the lie the truth. Eva is nervous and Calvin carries her to bed. He tells her that is she isn’t ready he’ll wait. Eva says she’s ready, but she is still not convinced he can perform so he shuts her up with a kiss. He joins her on the bed and they make love. They wake up cuddling and Eva kicks herself for believing the rumors because he was a beast in bed last night. He gifts her with a jade bracelet that was his mother’s, saved for the woman he marries. They make love again (gotta make that baby).
The fake DNA results are in and fake Evelyn is the Hale daughter. There is a banquet and Eva and Calvin must go. Calvin senses something fishy, Evelyn has been missing for twenty years, but as soon as he marries they magically find her. Grandpa doesn’t see anything wrong and says if there was no baby, he would be divorcing and marrying Evelyn right now. Eva mistakenly believes that he didn’t marry her because he’s gay, but rather she’s a shield for an arranged marriage he doesn’t want.
Grandpa Hale is talking with Fake Evelyn and we learn that Evelyn’s uncle and cousin actually faked the DNA report so the imposter will give money to the two illegitimate heirs, however if she’s a fake why would she give the two schemers anything. Just pocket it for herself and run off, are they going to tell Grandpa she’s a fake? Also, the imply they are going to kill Grandpa Hale now that fake Evelyn is in place. Everyone in the two families meet together and Vivian tells the Grandpas that Eve is faking her pregnancy. Fake Evelyn joins in and when she meets Nolan states that he was the one who kept Eva as a mistress. Eva tells everyone they were in a committed relationship, does she need to show the chat logs? Nolan tells her he’ll explain everything to her and she tells him he has a fiancée and she has a husband, so there is nothing to talk about. Grandpa still insists that Calvin marries fake Evelyn, and Calvin asks how because ploygamy is illegal. Grandpa Randolph tries to favor Fake Evelyn but Calvin won’t allow it.
Calvin goes off to speak to Grandpa Hale. He tells him there is no way the two illegitimate heirs would allow him to find Evelyn so easily. Grandpa Hale says he had a secret DNA test done. Calvin says then his men have been replaced and he needs to trust him to uncover the truth. Grandpa Hale agrees to another DNA test. Meanwhile, Nolan has dragged Eva off and states that the baby she is pregnant with must be his. Eva denies it. Nolan says she has to marry him. Nolan tells her he can do anything to have her back, and Eva asks him about his precious Valerie. He states that she’s just a business deal. Valerie arrives and demands Eva stop trying to seduce her man, but Eva tells her that Nolan just said he wanted to marry her, not Valerie. She also says that Nolan doesn’t love anyone, only himself. Grandpa Hale is up close with Eva Shaw again and thinks if Fake Evelyn isn’t his granddaughter, than maybe Eva Shaw is.
The couple returns to their hotel room and Eva is checking her ovulation cycle and tells Calvin so they begin making love. Evie dreams of Calvin from long ago, while he holds her telling her that he’s back too late and Nolan is no good for her. In her memory we learn that Calvin had to leave to study abroad, but Eva misunderstands and thinks he’s abandoning her because her eye sight might never return. Now awake, Eva is confused and asks why everyone says he’s afraid of relationships because it doesn’t seem that way to her and he tells her that she’s the exception. She asks if they didn’t just do it for the contract, afraid to feel something for Calvin he doesn’t feel in return. He drops hints left and right that she’s the one.
Eva is back home and Grandpa Rudolph is there to demand that Eva tell him if the baby she’s carrying is a Randolph. Eva is forced to the hospital for a blood test to confirm the pregnancy. She’s unable to call Calvin since Vivian takes away her phone, but Calvin’s servant calls and tells his office what is going on. Eva’s period is late but the pregnancy test she took was negative. Grandpa Hale was given meds that he pretends to take. He spits them out and gives them to Calvin to test. Calvin tells him that the results show Fake Evelyn is a fake. Back at the hospital, the results are in, Eva is indeed pregnant. Both Vivian and Fake Evelyn tried to bully her, but Eva knows she has the power of the Randolph name so she can and will crush them. They leave and Calvin arrives.
He is ecstatic about the baby, and he confessed he wants to use the baby to tie her to him forever. He finally confesses that he was the boy from seven years earlier that saved her life during the fire her foster mother set. When she accuses him of abandoning her just like everyone else, he tells her he had to make the deal with Grandpa Randolph to get the money he needed to hire the doctors who could repair her vision. It took him seven years to finally be powerful enough to return. She asks him why he never told her who he was and he tells her it was because she was in love with Nolan Pierce and he had to try to make her see that there was more out there for her than Nolan Pierce. She agrees they should stay married, but when she teases him and asks about the sixty million he promised her, he tells her that being Mrs. Randolph is worth so much more and takes her home to look at their bank balance.
Grandpa Hale interrogates the servant that gave him the poison pills and he confesses his illegitimate son gave him the pills. Grandpas Randolph and Hale now know that Gregory and Vivian were the ones behind the poisoning and Fake Evelyn. They agree to wait until Fake Evelyn’s debut before they cut Gregory and Vivian off at the knees. Grandpa Hale says he already knows where the real Evelyn is, and Grandpa Randolph better be nice to her because she’s already carrying the Randolph heir. Grandpa Hale also tells him he’s too old to judge people and listen to rumors about them. Grandpa Hale shoos Randolph away and sets up a DNA test for Eva.
Nolan is till lurking around asks once again is the baby is his and Calvin slaps him to hell! Nolan again insists that Eva only ever loved him and being with Calvin is just to make him jealous. If she simply drops the assault charges against his sister, he’ll think about marrying her. She confirms that when he was playing her hero he was able to trick her, but now that she’s met Calvin, she know what real love is. Nolan is justifying his relationship with Valerie because he has to obey his family wishes since there is an illegitimate heir that is fighting him for control of his family. She says that Calvin is the better man because there is no situation in which he doesn’t pick her. Eva tells Nolan that he doesn’t love her or Valerie, ho only loves his wealth and he’ll always pick it over people. Calvin tells Nolan instead of harassing his wife, he should check in with his fiancée because she’s working double time to seduce Nolan AND his illegitimate brother. Nolan meets with Valerie, but he’s had a press conference announcing he won’t be marrying Valerie. When she tries to tell him that he’s been listening to rumors, he throws pictures of the Valerie and his brother in her face. Valerie gets the news from her father that both the Pierce company and Randolph company have cut all ties with her family.
Calvin arranges for a secret DNA test but he doesn’t tell her because he knows she’s afraid of finding her birth family and being let down again. Calvin and Eva are at the hospital for a baby checkup and Calvin gets the news that Eva is a Hale. Calvin wants to keep it secret for longer, but gets glee out of knowing his grandpa wants to break up his marriage to his rightful fiancée.
Finally it’s time for the banquet. Fake Evelyn walks in like she owns the place and tells Grandpa Hale that once Eva has the baby, Calvin will be free to marry her. Eva and Calvin walk into the banquet and the tongues start wagging. When Fake Evelyn tries to talk to him he loudly announces he’s allergic to “green tea” and she needs to stay away from him. Calvin seats Eva at the table and Grandpa Hale proceeds with introducing his granddaughter to the group. Fake Evelyn smiles thinking it’s her, but says “Evie, come here” and she is confused. She walks over and he announces that this is his biological granddaughter and heir to all he has. Vivian objects and points to Fake Evelyn and says that’s your granddaughter. Gregory pops up to protest to his father and Grandpa Hale says no son of mine would try to poison his father. The servant that tried to poison him comes forward and tells Gregory that Mr. Hale knows everything. When Gregory tries to explain it all away, Grandpa Hale tells him to tell it to the police. They charge him with the attempted murder of Grandpa Hale, but also of the murder of Eva’s parents. Vivian begs for mercy but Grandpa Hale knows she was in on it all too. Fake Evelyn tries to blame everything on Vivian. Grandpa Hale has both women tossed out by security and disowns them. Grandpa Hale tells Eva he has been looking for her for twenty-two years. Grandpa Randolph objects, but Grandpa Hale shows him the evidence. Grandpa Randolph is so embarrassed he leaves to reflect on his mistakes. Calvin apologizes for leaving Eva in the dark because he wanted to surprise her but didn’t want her to feel pressured. Eva tells Grandpa Hale she always thought she was abandoned and he tells her that he parents were murdered by Gregory Hale, and he has searched for her everyday since she went missing. Eva is so happy to learn that she is not an orphan and she has a family that loves her.
Nolan is in his office learning about consequences. His father embezzled money to cover for his sister’s crimes and has been arrested. The company is in financial trouble and several investors have pulled out. His assistant rushes in and summarizes the events of the Hale banquet. He’s shocked to hear Eva is the Hale heir.
